Bio

After graduating from the Berklee College of Music, Dan Petty moved to New York City and quickly became a fixture on the downtown music scene, establishing himself within the highly competitive world of the city's best rock and R&B guitar players. At only 22 years old, Dan found himself on his first national tour with singer/songwriter Michael McDermott (SBK/Capitol). He spent the next couple of years gaining road and studio experience and became one of the founding members of the band Marry Me Jane (Epic/550) which garnered a national following and critical acclaim with their two albums; one of which became the soundtrack to the popular 1996 Eric Schaeffer film "If Lucy Fell." As a sideman, Dan continued touring extensively throughout the world, with artists as diverse as LeAnn Rimes, Sinead O' Connor, Shawn Colvin, Joan Osborne, Curt Smith (of Tears For Fears) and Audra McDonald. Since moving to Los Angeles, he has turned his focus mainly to songwriting, recording and production, racking up credits and cuts with an impressive roster of artists including Shawn Colvin, Joey McIntyre, Britney Spears, Lisa Loeb and Audra McDonald. Most recently, Dan has begun working on music for film and television, " he scored last year's Sundance hit, "Hamlet II," just finished work on the upcoming "Ghosts of Girlfriends Past" and is currently working on an upcoming studio release called "The Freeloaders."
